Have you anticipated the end of fluorescent EFKs ?

Reduce energy consumption and control costs with LED EFKs, while securing regulatory compliance and business continuity

24 February 2027: End of the sale of fluorescent-tube EFKs

In highly regulated and demanding sectors such as food processing, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals, flying insect control must be effective, reliable, and fully compliant with all regulatory requirements.

LED EFKs: high‑performance, sustainable, and fully RoHS‑compliant technology

From February 2027, mercury‑containing UV fluorescent tubes will no longer be permitted on the European market. As a result, Electronic Fly Killers (EFKs) will need to transition to innovative, mercury‑free technologies that meet the EU Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive (2011/65/EU) and CE compliance standards, while also improving energy efficiency.

Turn compliance into a competitive advantage

Upgrading to LED EFKs doesn’t just ensure compliance, it transforms your operation:

  • Reduced energy consumption
  • Reduced maintenance and replacement costs
  • Longer lifespan with consistent performance
  • Stronger environmental credentials for your business

LED technology allows you to move from reactive compliance to proactive optimisation, driving cost savings and supporting your sustainability goals.

Get ahead of the 2027 deadline

LED EFKs: where performance meets sustainability

Our advanced LED EFKs deliver up to 35% additional energy savings compared to standard LED alternatives, maximising efficiency without compromising performance.

IMMEDIATE, SUSTAINABLE, AND CONTROLLED COST SAVINGS

  • Significantly lower energy consumption
LED EFKs deliver up to 69% energy savings compared with conventional fluorescent models, helping you reduce consumption from day one.

  • Reduced operating costs, now and long term
LED tubes have a service life of up to 3 years, compared to just 1 year for fluorescent tubes. Combined with lower energy usage and fewer replacement components, this results in measurable and sustained reductions in operating costs.

  • Cost savings
Traditional fluorescent EFKs consume between 40-80W whereas LED alternatives reduce consumption from between 20-38W delivering a significant and sustained reduction in running costs

A SUSTAINABLE, RESPONSIBLE AND FULLY COMPLIANT SOLUTION

  • Eliminate risk at the source
Remove chemical hazards entirely simplifying regulation requirements associated.

  • Strengthen your CSR commitments
LED EFKs are completely mercury free, helping to reduce hazardous waste and support a safer, more sustainable approach

  • Supporting your brand and reputation
By reducing reliance on mercury-based products we minimise reputational risk and support your businesses environmental credentials.

With LED EFKs, economic performance and environmental responsibility now reinforce each other.

Risk of non‑compliance

Continuing to operate fluorescent based EFKs exposes your business to:

  • Failed audits and compliance observations
  • Financial penalties
  • Operational disruption—or even shutdown

Plan rather than react

Fluorescent tubes are becoming increasingly difficult to source, while energy costs continue to rise, placing growing pressure on both your operations and your bottom line.

Transitioning to LED not only removes this risk but unlocks immediate and long-term benefits: lower energy consumption, reduced maintenance, improved sustainability, and full regulatory compliance.

A planned transition allows you to take control, optimising costs, protecting business continuity, and future proofing your operations.
