EN standards impacting sporicidal efficacy of surface disinfectant

Products with sporicidal activity should be used in situation where there is a threat of contamination by Clostridioides difficile or Bacillus sp. The sporicidal efficacy of disinfectants is necessary in outbreak situation and after patient with Clostridioides difficile infection discharge. In medical area we have two standards EN 17126 and EN 17846 to confirm sporicidal efficacy of products.
EN 17846 is a new European Standard for sporicidal efficacy against Clostridioides difficile that applies to surface disinfectant with mechanical action. Products are tested for their ability to kill C. difficile spores, which are known for their resistance in healthcare environment.
